IT issues affecting Bradford District and Craven GP practices

Updated 3pm on Thursday 31 July.

GP practices across Bradford District and Craven continue to be affected by major IT issues that are disrupting access to clinical systems. This is a serious and ongoing problem with significant impact on both patients and practice staff. We’re extremely grateful for everyone’s patience and understanding, and especially to practice teams who are working tirelessly under very difficult circumstances.

The issue relates to connectivity between the data centres that support IT systems for primary care in our area. We can confirm this is not a cyber attack, and there has been no breach of patient data. Patient information remains safe and secure. Additional technical resource has been brought in to help resolve the issue, and a phased recovery plan is being actively progressed.

Practices are open, but some appointments and services may take longer than usual. Patients will be contacted if any scheduled appointments need to be rearranged.

To carry out essential technical work, Enhanced Access services will not run this weekend (3–4 August). These are the additional GP appointments usually offered outside normal working hours. Standing these services down will help create the conditions needed to apply IT fixes safely, and gives us the best chance of restoring full functionality from Monday.

We understand this will cause inconvenience for some patients, but it is a necessary step to support recovery.

If you need urgent medical help and can’t contact your GP practice:

  • Visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111
  • Only attend A&E in the case of serious or life-threatening emergencies

Thank you for your continued patience, and for treating practice staff with kindness and respect during this difficult time.

We will continue to update this page as new information becomes available.

Patients with complaints or concerns can email wyicb.pals@nhs.net.
